Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices

The Louisiana Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act (“LUDTPA”) provides damages, and in some cases triple damages, for business conduct that is “outrageous or substantially injurious.” LUDTPA cases involve complex issues including contracts, accounting, defamation of character, theft of trade secrets, and acquiring funds through the use of false representations. LUDTPA is highly specialized and frequently involves review of thousands of pages of documents, forensic accounting, and specialized knowledge of Louisiana corporations’ law. The attorneys at Willis & Buckley are experienced with such cases and have even handled cases that enlarged the scope of LUDTPA and became appellate decisions relied upon by courts currently.
